Spending its life hidden in the tall grasses, Tuntuns build their nests to avoid predators and to graze on the vegetation. They are known for having incredible vision with the ability to focus its internal lenses in the eyes to home in on tiny objects up close to it or spot a small mammal from five hundred meters away. It can see in the infrared light wave spectrum which helps it identify living beings from inanimate objects. As infants, their ears are larger than as adults, to help them stay safe while they learn to use their eyes.
