Believed to be a genetically engineered cephalopod and crustacea hybrid, Barburika grow to be up to a meter long. Its upper body is covered in a network of sacs surrounded by shell housings where it incubates its young until they hatch. Though venomous, they are typically passive and free-floating in the total darkness of the ocean's abyssal plain. It can self-reproduce so rapidly that they can become the only active species in a wide area, where they become cannibalistic to survive.
