Mysterious and stoic, stumbling across a Bukurait is said to be an omen of bad fortune if encountered alone in the woods. Thought to be the last person to see one alone, the Bukuraits are supposedly freed from their standing prison when another person sees one alone, where the person that encounters it takes its place. The infants are said to swap with individuals while the elder Bukuraits are said to trap groups of travelers.
